About Ozone
Ozone has played a significant role in air and water purification for many years. Both the American Indians and the Greeks noticed the positive effects of ozone. The word ozone derives from the Greek word Ozein meaning "to smell." The American Indians realized fishing in lakes and streams was more productive after rainstorms, a practice which many still practice today. We know now the explanation for this naturally occurring phenomenon is that after an electrical rainstorm, the top layer of water in lakes is enriched with diluted oxygen and is naturally "ozonated." We are now able to prove scientifically the positive influence ozone has on the digestive tracks of numerous species of fish. In fact, ozone purification makes closed loop fish farming possible because of its ability to destroy many viruses that are responsible for numerous diseases in fish culture. Ozone remains to be the best water purifying alternative to chemicals such as Chlorine and Bromine still today.
The most common use of ozone is for the cleansing and decontamination of drinking water. In 1906 a group of scientists and doctors studied the ozonation system at the Oudshoorn Plant, in Holland, and they later built a 19,000m3/day (5 mgd) water purification plant using ozone as its disinfecting agent. Today Los Angeles, California has the largest drinking water treatment plant in the world and most of the world's bottled drinking water is actually cleaned by ozone as well. Ozone has been helping people drink cleaner and healthier water for a long time, and with the introduction of our new technology we are proud to say that ozone will continue to improve our quality of life for many years to come. So, we didn't invent ozone, we just re-invented its ability to change the world.
What is Ozone?
Ozone is nature's "active oxygen" and is composed of three oxygen atoms (o3) whereas oxygen is composed of two (o2). Ozone is created naturally in the earth's atmosphere in two ways. The first is when the sun's ultraviolet rays meet the oxygen already present in the earth's air, which creates the protective ozone layer. The second and more common way ozone is produced is when lightning strikes the oxygen in the air converting oxygen to ozone. Ozone is detectable by the fresh, clean scent you find after a rainstorm, and is essentially the driving component of fresh, clean air. Ozone is the most powerful oxidizer known to mankind and is the alternative water purifier to traditional chemicals.
- Ozone is "active oxygen", nature's special element. (Each ozone molecule consists of three oxygen atoms.)
- Ozone is a natural purifier.
- Ozone is created in nature by the combination of oxygen in air and the ultraviolet rays of the sun or by the corona discharge that occurs during a lightning storm.
- Ozone has the clean, fresh scent noticed after a rainstorm.
- Ozone is the most powerful oxidizer safely used.
- Ozone is the alternative water purifier to traditional chemicals such as chlorine and bromine.
What does ozone do?
The ozone layer found miles above the Earth's crust is our defense mechanism from the ultraviolet radiation found in the sun's rays. Our new technology has enabled us to take the protective qualities from ozone well above the ground and apply them within your home. Ozone applied within your home will destroy mold, mildew, bacteria, viruses, micro-organisms, and allergens. It will also oxidize iron, sulfur, manganese and hydrogen sulfate. Ozone eliminates oils and other contaminants in water as well as eliminating odors in air such as smoke and pet odors.
- The Ozone layer in the atmosphere protects the earth from deadly radiation.
- Ozone destroys bacteria, viruses, mold, and mildew.
- Ozone eliminates spores, cysts, yeast, and fungus.
- Ozone oxidizes iron, sulfur, manganese and hydrogen sulfate.
- Ozone eliminates oils and other contaminants in water.
- Ozone eliminates odors in air, such as smoke.
- Ozone keeps water clean and sparkling clear.
- Ozone keeps food and water fresh.
Where is ozone used?
Today, Los Angeles, California has the largest ozone drinking water plant in the world, and the majority of bottled drinking water is also purified by ozone. Ozone is used in many applications to clean contaminated water and toxic waste. Ozone is attributed to be the only way many "dead" or contaminated lakes and pools are "brought back to life." Ozone is used all over the world to purify the air in hotel rooms, boats, RV's, cars and smoke/fire damaged structures. Ozone is used in thousands of residential and commercial swimming pools and spas all over the world.
- In 1906, Nice, France built the first water purification plant to use ozone.
- Los Angeles, California has the largest ozone drinking water treatment plant in the world.
- Most bottled water is purified by ozone.
- Ozone is used to clean water and toxic waste.
- Ozone purifies water in well and home drinking water systems.
- Ozone systems have brought life back to "dead" contaminated lakes and pools.
- Ozone is used to purify air in hotel rooms, boats, RVs, cars, and smoke/fire damaged structures.
- Ozone is used in thousands of residential and commercial pools and spas all over the world.
Is ozone healthy?
Ozone is healthy. Ozone leaves no chemical by-products in water, nor does it leave any type of film within your home. It will leave a clean, fresh scent in your home, which resembles the fresh scent of linens after a wash. Ozone will not burn eyes or make them irritated in any way, nor will it dry out your skin, nose or ears. Ozone leaves absolutely no film of any sort and will not discolor walls, drapery or carpet. In fact, walls, carpet, drapes, blankets, etc. will be cleaned and disinfected. An ozone application on your home will disinfect and purify all the surfaces within your home and the air circulating within it. Ozone will eradicate unhealthy microorganisms floating within the air of your home and on your home's surfaces, leaving you with the cleanest home.
- Ozone leaves no chemical by-products in water.
- Ozone leaves no chemical taste or smell.
- Ozone will not burn eyes or make them red or irritated.
- Ozone will not irritate or dry out skin, nose, or ears.
- Ozone will not leave a chemical film on material or skin.
- Ozone will not discolor or damage hair or clothing.
- Ozone rids water and air of unhealthy microorganisms.
- Ozone is NOT a carcinogen.
Is ozone safe for environment and for equipment?
Ozone is non-combustible and is completely safe for electronics, equipment and the environment. Ozone is not a fire hazard and will not damage any plumbing fittings or pipes located within your home. Ozone doesn't need to be purchased or stored in any way, we simply generate the ozone on site and it is introduced to the air automatically. Ozone will in no way adjust the pH balance of water through the purification process.
- Ozone will not explode.
- Ozone is not a fire hazard.
- In the dose required for excellent purification, ozone does not produce harmful fumes.
- Ozone will not damage plumbing fittings or pipes.
Is ozone convenient in pools and spas?
Ozone is generated on site and introduced to the water automatically. Ozone will not adjust the pH balance of water, minimizing needed adjustments. Ozone helps reduce total dissolved solids in water so that the water does not have to be changed as often. Ozone eliminates much of the routine maintenance because it does such an effective job keeping the water clean.
